MARIEMONT, Ohio (WKRC) — The historic Mariemont Theatre is one step closer to reopening after its new owner announced it has reached its $1 million fundraising goal.
The Cindependent Film Festival, which purchased the theater, said the milestone allows work to move forward on preparing the nearly 90-year-old venue to welcome moviegoers again.
The money will fund new projection equipment, an upgraded sound system, repaired and restored movie houses, new screens and other improvements, including a new popcorn machine.
“Reaching our Phase I fundraising goal is an incredible milestone, but what makes this moment truly meaningful is how we got here,” Cindependent board member Cheryl Rose said. “The Mariemont Theatre is reopening because our community believed in it.”…
