Severe thunderstorms, including tornado-warned storms, moved through the Cincinnati region Tuesday afternoon and evening, causing widespread damage and one of the largest power outage events of the year.
As of 6 p.m., Duke Energy reported approximately 172,000 customers without power across its service territory.
Emergency crews responded to reports of fallen trees, damaged utility infrastructure and blocked roadways as residents assessed the aftermath of the storms.
According to reports from WLWT, strong winds toppled trees across multiple neighborhoods and brought down power lines, leaving large sections of the region without electricity. Utility crews immediately began damage assessments and restoration efforts after the storms passed.
Storm outages impact communities across the Tri-State
The storms arrived during the afternoon and intensified as they crossed the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The National Weather Service issued several severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings as the strongest cells moved through the region.
