You Can Now Try Bourbon Proofed With Water From Fountain Square

Sure, downtown Cincinnati’s Fountain Square is pretty to look at, but did you know that its Tyler Davidson Fountain also supplies fresh drinking water? Now, you can even get a bourbon that was proofed using water from the fountain.

Cincinnati Distilling is now accepting pre-orders of its Fountain Square Reserve Bourbon, a 96-proof bourbon that also celebrates the history of the Tyler Davidson Fountain.

Henry Probasco donated the fountain to Cincinnati in 1871 as a memorial to his brother-in-law and business partner, Tyler Davidson. The four figures around the fountain were designed to supply fresh drinking water to the city, and Probasco gifted the fountain to the city under the condition that “the city will maintain said fountain in complete order, and forever supply the drinking conduits thereof with pure drinking water for the free use of all who may resort thither at any hour of the day or night.” 3CDC now manages the fountain and says the water coming from the fountain is still potable.
