Former Cincinnati Zoo manatees released back into the wild in Florida

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – After about a year at the Cincinnati Zoo, three manatees were released back into the wild in Florida. The trio — Piccolina, Soleil, and Calliope — was rescued in 2021. They were some of the smallest calves ever treated at ZooTampa and received intensive care for 18 months before being moved to the Cincinnati Zoo’s Manatee Springs in 2022. Piccolina weighed just 44 pounds at the time of her rescue.
