Historic Hamilton city building transforming into hotel

HAMILTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A historic Butler County building that held numerous city offices is set to become a hotel.

The former city of Hamilton building at 20 High St. is set to be revitalized as a hotel, according to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. Through round 32 of the Ohio Historic Preservation tax credit program, $6 million in funding is going towards the project.

“Economic development is vital for our economy to continue to grow, and we can do that in a way that preserves our existing historic spaces while creating new opportunities for housing, businesses, and communities,” said Lt. Gov. Jon Husted. “This program preserves Ohio’s history while investing in the future.”

A portion of the building deemed non-historic will be demolished to create more rooms for lodging.

Along with the hotel, the building will also include:

  • Event space
  • Fitness center
  • Lobby bar
  • Meeting space
  • Restaurant

While the building will continue to have the historic plaster, the windows and steel lintels will be improved.
