New challenge-room concept coming to Kenwood Towne Centre

A new challenge-room entertainment complex for social gatherings and immersive activities is preparing to open at Kenwood Towne Centre next summer.

Named “Brkthrough,” the new business would take over the space currently occupied by Rally House , which plans to relocate to another section of the mall this spring, according to mall officials.

The concept is based around physical and mental problem solving in up to 40 different tech-enabled challenge rooms designed for teams of two-to-four players, according to owner Braden Holcomb.

Teams rack up points in each room as they tackle different challenges − which may include solving puzzles, shooting baskets, even following dance moves − before moving on to the next room.

Would be third Brkthrough nationwide

The teams’ performance is tracked via RFID wristbands , and scores are displayed on a leaderboard.

Holcomb said the concept is perfect for corporate team-building activities, family gatherings and friendly get-togethers.

There will also be a bar and restaurant at the Kenwood location, which would be Brkthrough’s third location in addition to locations in Overland Park, Kansas, and another location under construction just north of Houston, Holcomb said.
