Russell Mock, who has been Hamilton County Republican Party chairman since Feb. 2, 2023, has had time to prove that he can reverse the downward spiral of the county GOP, and he has failed spectacularly.
There are no Republican members on Cincinnati City Council, and none of the three Hamilton County commissioners are Republicans. With the loss of prosecutor candidate Melissa Powers, the Hamilton County Courthouse is no longer under the control of Republicans for the first time in 90 years. Our very well-qualified sheriff candidate, Jim Neil, lost in November. None of the countywide offices are held by Republicans except Eric Beck who ran unopposed. In November only two of our seven very brave state representative candidates won.
Mock has no plan to turn the Hamilton County Republican Party around. He has no prospects for running a Republican for mayor of Cincinnati, or any candidates to run for Cincinnati City Council in 2025. In the Jan. 2 Enquirer, Mock said, “For now, the Republican Party’s focus is on townships, villages and small cities.”
