At a packed ceremony Friday afternoon, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich was formally sworn in by her law school classmate, 1st District Court of Appeals Judge Marilyn Zayas.
The two met in the 1990s at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, as both were pursuing second careers while also raising children. Pillich, who served more than eight years in the Air Force, gave birth to her second child while in law school.
Pillich, who is 64, talked about the overwhelming responsibility that comes with now being the most powerful law enforcement official in Ohio’s third most populous county. A former state representative and longtime civil attorney, she has never before worked as a prosecutor. She is taking over an office that hasn’t been led by a Democrat since 1932…
