Middletown settles wrongful death lawsuit over homeless man’s death

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) – Nearly three years after a homeless man died while he was being transported from a city-funded warming center to a hospital by the Middletown fire department, the city has settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by his family, new court filings show.

The case was listed as “closed” in Warren County court filings last week after a settlement was reached during mediation in October between the relatives of 47-year-old William “Billy” Jeffreys and “two defense attorneys … with the city and insurance reps.”…
