Local Kroger employee wins federal case against union and company over dues

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Kroger employee James Carroll has emerged victorious in his federal case against the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 75 union and the grocery giant Kroger.

The case concluded with a settlement after Carroll filed charges against UFCW for threatening him with termination for refusing to sign an illegal union dues deduction form and against Kroger for unlawfully deducting union dues from his paycheck.

To avoid prosecution, both Kroger and UFCW agreed to reimburse Carroll for the unlawfully seized dues and to post a public notice informing employees of their rights.
