Colerain Township Closes Heritage and Dravo Parks Amid Dangerous Flood Conditions

Colerain Township issued a community alert today, announcing Heritage Park’s and Dravo Park’s weekend closure due to rising floodwaters. According to a social media post from the township, the Great Miami River is swelling rapidly and has already caused considerable flooding within the parks. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH, has anticipated that the river will crest on Sunday morning at a staggering 27.9 feet. This forecast suggests that Colerain Township is facing its highest river levels in 25 years, and its fifth flood is classified as a “100-year flood.” In comparison, the river reached 26 feet during the March 2008 flood, which locals might recall submerged baseball fields and reaching the top of the canoe ramp at Heritage Park.
