I lost four friends and Cincinnati lost four giants | Opinion

In March, our community lost four extraordinary leaders − Tom Cody , Gwen Robinson , Francie Pepper , and Jim Votruba . Their legacies are woven into the fabric of our region, each leaving an indelible mark through their vision, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others.

Gwen Robinson devoted her life to strengthening families, leading the Community Action Agency and Head Start program, and co-founding Every Child Succeeds. She fought to ensure that all children − regardless of background − had the support they needed to thrive. Gwen exuded passion and joy.

Tom Cody believed in Cincinnati and worked tirelessly to make it better. As chair of the boards of Cincinnati Children’s, United Way, Cincinnati CAN, and the Chamber of Commerce, he played a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city. He championed business, philanthropy, education, and more. But above all, Tom loved kids, celebrated science and respected every person…
