Greater Cincinnati communities have reported multiple sightings of a black bear, creating a stir among residents in the tri-state area. According to LOCAL12, Greenhills Police Chief Jim Howarth was surprised by the appearance of the bear, caught by an officer’s in-car camera during a routine patrol at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday. “It’s like, wow, that doesn’t happen very often,” Howarth exclaimed, detailing the incident.
Spotted wandering the streets, the bear has reportedly been on the move for weeks, moving from place to place, seen by doorbell cameras and startled citizens alike. Sharing her apprehension with LOCAL12, Shonda Ferguson-Gordon, who works near a sighting location, expressed her clear preference for keeping a safe distance: “I was like, okay, I don’t want to see a bear. No thanks. It’s okay. Let the bear stay where he’s at.”
911 calls have come in as well, suggesting the anxiety experienced by residents upon encountering the bear. One such caller reported to authorities, saying, “I just saw a black bear walk past my front door camera,” as recounted by FOX19. Brett Beatty from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, mentioned by both FOX19 and Local 12, emphasized that the bear is thought to be the same two-year-old male traversing the area, covering about “8, 10, 12 miles a day.”…
