Northern Kentucky’s only Black Catholic school, church gets historic recognition

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) — Our Savior Parish, the only Black Catholic school and church in Northern Kentucky, is set to receive a historical marker.

Located on East Tenth Street in Covington, the school first opened its doors in 1943 with an enrollment of 56 students, 14 of whom were Catholic.

It offered education from grades one through 12 and was one of only two schools in Northern Kentucky at the time that accepted Black high school students…
