COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) – New details emerged regarding a violent confrontation between Covington police and protesters opposing the detention of a local imam by immigration agents.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday on the Roebling Bridge, was captured on cell phone video that showed a Covington officer tackling and repeatedly punching a protester.

The officer involved was identified as Zachary Stayton, who has been with the Covington Police Department for nearly four years. He is currently on administrative duty pending an internal investigation.
