Hundreds of parole violators have vanished in Ohio: ‘We don’t know where they are’

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On June 4, Sara’s husband, Patrick Heringer, was fatally stabbed inside their Cincinnati home. The alleged killer, Mordecai Black, had been convicted of a prior violent offense and was on post-release control — under state supervision — living at a half-way house when he vanished.

“He was stabbed to death while protecting his family from a violent, deranged criminal,” said Sara Heringer.
