‘We all assumed gun’: Emergency alert mishap causes panic across multiple local counties

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) — A search for a suspect accused of assault while on parole led to a SWAT team deployment in a quiet suburban neighborhood on Saturday.

Deputies responded to a home on Spring Mill Way in Deerfield Township, prompting an alert advising residents to stay indoors and secure doors and windows. However, the alert, intended for a small area, was mistakenly sent to residents across Warren, Hamilton, Butler, and Clermont counties, including Sharonville and Blue Ash.
