Jailed imam accuses Ohio sheriff of civil rights violations over solitary confinement

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cincinnati imam who has been jailed in a controversial immigration case alleges that Butler County officials have violated his civil rights.

Ayman Soliman, who worked as the chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital before his arrest by immigration agents, was forced into solitary confinement after officers denied his request to pray in his cell, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court in Cincinnati.
