Cincinnati can charge parents for their kids’ curfew violations. But the city doesn’t

Under Cincinnati’s long-time curfew ordinance, parents can be charged for their child’s repeated curfew violations.

But none have been changed since 2009, according to an Enquirer review of court records.

Since Cincinnati first passed its youth curfew ordinance in 1994, there has been a provision on the books allowing police officers to press charges against parents of chronic curfew offenders. The first time parents “knowingly permit or by efficient control allow” their children to break curfew, they can receive a written warning.
