Survey reveals top reasons children avoid school: fear, anxiety, and exhaustion

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — A new survey conducted by the Kids Mental Health Foundation shed light on the primary reasons children across the United States avoid attending school.

The national survey, which included responses from over 1,000 parents, revealed that about two in five children who missed school cited not feeling physically well enough to attend. Additionally, one in five children reported being too exhausted to go to school.

The survey also highlighted that a third of parents said their children missed more than a week of school last year due to fear or anxiety. Kelley McChristy, a mother who experienced this with her son, reached out to her child’s teacher for assistance…
