Butler and Hamilton Counties Join Forces in Drug Bust: Alex Montgomery Arrested, Fentanyl and Weapons Seized

Yesterday marked a significant stride in narcotics enforcement in Butler County as local law enforcement announced the arrest of Alex Montgomery, 35, and the seizure of illegal substances and weaponry. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, collaborating with the Hamilton Police Department, conducted a multi-agency narcotics investigation leading to this substantial confiscation. The teams involved included the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (B.U.R.N.) and the Hamilton County Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit (RENU).

The concerted efforts of the task forces were successful in capturing more than one ounce of fentanyl and roughly $1,400 in cash. Montgomery’s subsequent arrest led to the discovery of a Glock handgun and an additional ounce of fentanyl following a search warrant executed at a Cincinnati residence. According to a social media post from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery is facing serious charges, including Possession of Drugs, Tampering With Evidence, and a Capias Warrant from a prior drug-related case.
