Plan advances to transform Cincinnati subway tunnels into ‘one-of-a-kind amenity’

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – The city of Cincinnati has advanced an effort to repurpose its abandoned subway tunnels, an ambitious idea whose viability is unclear and whose timeline could stretch out a decade or more.

The city made the request for proposals document, or RFP, public through its procurement portal Sept. 22. The submission deadline is Oct. 21.

“At the heart of this effort is a big idea,” the RFP document reads. “Can we breathe new life into this long-abandoned subterranean space and create something extraordinary beneath our streets?”…
