Cincinnati Crackdown: Joint Operation Leads to Arrest of Man With Felony Strangulation Warrants

In a push to crack down on violent crime in Cincinnati, a joint operation by local law enforcement agencies has resulted in several felony arrests. On Tuesday, October 14, as part of an initiative supported by Governor Mike DeWine and Mayor Aftab Pureval, officers pulled over a vehicle after a minor traffic violation and arrested a man wanted on multiple warrants, including for strangulation. The official press release shared by the Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s official website detailed the events leading to the suspect’s capture.

Officers from the Cincinnati Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a red 2014 Ford Focus on Gest Street in Queensgate. The driver, identified as Tyrekis Mitchem, aged 27, was found to have two felony strangulation warrants, two misdemeanor warrants, and three traffic warrants out for his arrest. According to the release, Mitchem’s arrest was executed without incident, and he was subsequently booked into the Hamilton County Jail.

The traffic stop that led to Mitchem’s arrest occurred when he failed to signal at a traffic light. Officers promptly conducted the stop, subsequently identifying and detaining Mitchem.
