Up to 20 injured in Cincinnati balcony collapse as mass casualty incident declared

Emergency crews responded Friday to a balcony collapse on the 230 block of Stetson Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, where up to 20 people were reportedly on the structure at the time of the fall. Ten people were taken to the hospital, five with serious injuries and one with life-threatening injuries, according to WLWT.

The balcony, approximately 20 feet above the ground on the 3rd floor of the building, gave way, prompting authorities to declare a mass casualty incident. The building was a student apartment near the University of Cincinnati.

Around 11 emergency medical services transport units were dispatched, according to the Greater Cincinnati Police and Fire Chaplain Services. First responders were on scene treating victims and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals…
