Clermont County homeless issue worsens, many living at Eastgate Mall

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) – A Tri-State county of 250,000 people has no place to house its homeless population, and some say it’s reaching a breaking point. A Union Township trustee says Clermont County commissioners are not doing enough to provide shelter to the unhoused.

“Here, we’re coming into winter, and we’re going to have more homeless people out there in the cold,” said Union Township Trustee Joe Dills. “What are we doing about it? Nothing.”

Dills says there are 1,500 people who are unhoused in Clermont County, and they all seem to end up on his doorstep—or more specifically, either at the Eastgate Mall or in nearby motels…
