CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The operators of the Greater Cincinnati Fire Buff TikTok account are working to rebuild their presence on the platform after hackers compromised their account and demanded a ransom. The local TikTok account was forced to start anew due to the breach.
The hacking incident left the operators locked out, with passwords rendered ineffective, email addresses changed, and authentication compromised.
To prevent similar incidents, experts recommend using strong and unique passwords for each account, avoiding easily identifiable information such as birthdates or names.
