Former Kroger buyer admits to scheme that raised produce prices during pandemic

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A former Kroger buyer has pleaded guilty to a kickback scheme that raised prices for customers during the pandemic.

Mark Disbennett, of West Chester, recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy and tax fraud.

According to federal prosecutors, Disbennett would tell co-conspirator produce vendors in Oregon what the highest price Kroger would pay for certain produce. In return, he received more than $147,000 during the pandemic…
