Ex-Water Works worker admits to diverting scrap lead pipes, taking kickback

Greater Cincinnati Water Works has won accolades for removing residential lead pipes across the city.

But the utility has not, as intended, sold off the pipes to collect recycling dollars, city records show.

Instead, as much as 100,000 pounds of lead pipe ended up in the hands of metal scrappers who sold them and kept the cash for themselves…
