Earlier this week, a leading pediatric cancer center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, announced it is expanding its facilities with the addition of an Applied Gene and Cell Therapy center.
The site based in Sharonville, Ohio, is four times the size of Cincinnati Children’s current laboratory facilities. The new center will focus on the production of biological therapies for the treatment of pediatric cancers and genetic disorders. Facility leadership hopes to manufacture gene, cell, and immunotherapy drug products to increase clinical trial activity and produce tailor-made genetic therapies.
“What makes the Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center unique is that it’s not just a research lab and it’s not just a manufacturing facility – it’s both ,” the executive director of the new center, Chaozhong Zou, said in a statement. “Discoveries can move faster from bench to bedside, enabling patients to gain access to new therapies sooner.”…
