Luxury home in OTR seeks to break neighborhood’s $2M price barrier

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – A luxury home has hit the Greater Cincinnati housing market, and if it sells for its listing price, it would be the first of its kind in Over-the-Rhine.

The home at 1826 Elm St. is listed for $2 million. If sold for that amount, it would be the most expensive residential property in OTR sold to date. Only a handful homes in the neighborhood have sold for close to $2 million – including a $1.9 million property at 1506 Race St. that sold late last year; 218 Orchard St., which is currently pending at $1.8 million; and 218 W. 15th St., which was listed for $2.2 million and sold for $1.975 million in 2021.

It’s a sign of how far the neighborhood just north of the Central Business District has come in its redevelopment. In 2015, Cincinnati Reds owner Bob Castellini said it would be three or four years before Over-the-Rhine recorded a $1 million home sale…
