NEWPORT, Ky.(WXIX0 — With two years of construction planned for the Fourth Street Bridge, Newport businesses are depending on Small Business Saturday and holiday shopping to help them maintain operations while still recovering from last November’s Daniel Carter Beard Bridge fire.
The city of Newport has launched a “Shop Small Holiday” promotion where customers who shop at five local participating businesses will be entered into the Newport Holiday Raffle. Shoppers collect a sticker from each business and return their card to one of the participating stores. The raffle winners will be announced in January.
Both businesses said they are still working to recover from decreased customer traffic following the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge fire last November…
