As the cold grips the region, folks in Columbus, Cincinnati, and Wilmington are bracing for a hit of winter weather. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH, announced that we’re looking at snowfall beginning Monday night through to Tuesday morning, courtesy of an upper level shortwave trough sweeping through the Ohio Valley.
The forecast predicts “snowfall totals are moderately likely to fall into the 2-4 inch range for most locations,” creating potential hazards for Tuesday’s morning commute; warmer air may bring a mix of sleet or freezing rain, particularly near the Ohio River, a stark reminder that winter isn’t quite done with us yet and those commuting should prepare for slower than usual traffic and some travel difficulties, especially as the city’s snow-clearing operations gear up to tackle the overnight accumulation.
