FOX19 NOW, The Enquirer and United Way of Greater Cincinnati have joined forces for the 39th year to help families in need with the Wish List program. After wishes are granted, remaining funds assist people with similar needs throughout the year. This is the second of eight stories.
CINCINNATI (WXIX) – For years, Tifani Smith has carried the weight of her family’s survival on her shoulders – three children, each with their own dreams, challenges and gifts. She’s done it all with quiet determination, often pushing through uncertainty with one thought in mind: “I need to be better for my children.”
That resolve kept her family together through some of their darkest times, including years of homelessness. The kids spent weeks heading off to school after sleeping in their car or the chairs of a friend’s barbershop, unsure where they might stay the next night. “It was a lot. I couldn’t find anything,” Tifani said.
Now brighter days are finally within reach, due in part to support from The JoBro Foundation, the United Way partner agency that recognized Tifani’s resilience and selflessness in nominating her for the Wish List. This holiday, she’s wishing for what every family deserves: a real home – furnished and ready to support her family’s next chapter…
