In a 1936 Cincinnati Enquirer article announcing the completion of the first home in the Raeburn development in Mt. Airy, real estate editor of the time Philip E. Except, as the article continues, the dream of Herbert Faber, the chairman of the board at Formica at the time, was beginning to come to fruition as 4831 Raeburn Lane became available for occupancy — the first of 80 planned homes over 100 acres along Colerain Avenue just across the street from Mt. Airy Forest. The home was designed by Kruckemeyer & Strong, the same architects behind Lunken Airport, in International and Moderne styles with Art Deco elements — inspired by the 1933 World’s Fair Homes of Tomorrow. Now, this one-of-a-kind dwelling can represent a new dream for someone as it sits ready for its revival.

4831 Raeburn Lane’s exterior was built with Indiana limestone and large steel casement windows, with the interior featuring steel and concrete construction, four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.
