Police investigate deadly Clermont County trench collapse as a possible crime

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) – Miami Township Police are investigating Friday’s trench collapse as a possible crime.

One worker was killed and two others were injured in the trench collapse at a home on Valley Forge Road near Day Drive.

Hamilton County Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) said the trench was about 12 feet deep with unstable soil and the rescue took eight hours. The organization posted photos of the rescue on its social media.

It’s reported that there was no trench box for the crew. Trench boxes are required for trenches five feet deep or more. OSHA was on the scene and will investigate further.
