NKY man faces life sentence after conviction for killing his children’s mom

CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) – A Northern Kentucky man is facing a life sentence after being convicted of killing the mother of his two children during a custody exchange, leaving the kids behind at the crime scene, according to our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Mario Payne, 40, was found guilty of murder on Dec. 11 at the end of a three-day trial in Kenton County Circuit Court. His guilty verdict came nearly two years after the January 2024 killing of 25-year-old Kierra Lane at her home in Covington.
