Snow Exits Late Tonight, Dangerous Cold Arrives

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Snow will continue to fall in the Tri-State through the evening hours. Most of the steady snow will wrap up by late evening with only a few flakes drifting around overnight. Even without new accumulation overnight, conditions won’t improve much. Blowing snow will remain possible through the overnight and into early morning hours Sunday, creating slick spots on roads and other untreated surfaces.

The bigger concern quickly becomes the cold. Bitter air drains in tonight with temperatures falling into the single digits by Sunday morning. Wind chills will drop below zero and stay there at times both Sunday and Monday mornings. This kind of cold limits how effective salt can be, so refreezing is likely even where roads were treated earlier. Side streets, parking lots and sidewalks will be especially messy.

Sunday stays brutally cold but quieter weather wise. Some sunshine breaks through, but highs struggle to reach the mid teens. Slick conditions may linger all day due to the cold alone. Sunday night is even colder with lows near zero and another round of subzero wind chills early Monday…
