Stabbing suspect who fled in Middletown police cruiser bound over to grand jury

A 24-year-old man accused of stabbing a man more than 30 times before he then stole a Middletown police cruiser has been bound over to a Butler County grand jury for possible indictment.

Jonathan Crabtree was in court Friday for a preliminary hearing, where Middletown Police Detective Connor Kirby testified that Crabtree said he was acting “because of God” when he allegedly stabbed the man.

“(Crabtree) gave different reasons as to why he wanted to kill (the) 25-year-old victim,” Kirby said. “One of the reasons he said, it was because of God.”…
