CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and City Council members celebrated their inauguration Tuesday. Much like the previous ceremony, it came in the shadow of a child’s death in the West End.
11-year-old Queenie Reed was shot and killed on New Year’s Day while playing at Laurel Park. In November 2023, another 11-year-old, Dominic Davis, was also shot to death near the park. At that time, the mayor promised cameras in the neighborhood to improve safety.
Funding to increase surveillance in the West End has been in place since September, when council members approved $150,000 for camera expansion. Cincinnati police are tasked with getting the cameras up and running. On Monday, Local 12 learned only some have been installed…
