Miami Twp. man sentenced for stabbing mom, charging at cops with knife

A Miami Township man who fatally stabbed his mother before being shot in a confrontation with police has taken a last-minute plea deal, court records show.

Joshua Amburgy, 42, pleaded guilty on Jan. 8 in Clermont County Common Pleas Court to aggravated murder and felonious assault. He was sentenced to at least 30 years to life in prison.

Amburgy’s guilty plea came just four days before the scheduled start of his trial on Jan. 12 in Judge Victor Haddad’s courtroom.
