CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) – Cincinnati has settled a lawsuit for just over $1.4 million more than a decade after a city police shot and killed a Northside resident, according to our partners at the Enquirer.
Quandavier Hicks was 22 when Cincinnati police arrived at a Northside apartment on June 9, 2015, to investigate a report of menacing. At the time, police said a caller told them Hicks had threatened to kill a couple after they accused Hicks of stealing from their home. The encounter ended with an officer fatally shooting Hicks in the chest.
“While balancing the needs and resources of our Law department, the minimization of financial risk, and the legal options available to us,” said City Manager Sheryl Long in a Jan. 13 press release, “I’ve concluded that this difficult decision is nevertheless the best one.”…
