The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, has laid out a stark forecast for the week for regions including Columbus, Cincinnati, Wilmington, and beyond, with no significant changes from earlier predictions: it’s going to be cold, very cold.
According to the National Weather Service latest bulletin, the area is in for “a significant/prolonged arctic outbreak” that’s expected to linger through the entire week, leading to some of the coldest temperatures on record for the Ohio Valley while little flurries and snow showers are a slight chance to happen today, there’s far more pressing concern in the form of “periods of dangerous extreme cold” hence residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure through Saturday.
The austere bulletin further details the conditions contributing to this deep freeze: “Well below normal temperatures persist for the next 7 days thanks to repeated shots of arctic air and a deep snowpack,” according to NWS. This cold snap could rival historic cold periods, with wind chills expected to drop below 20°F courtesy of brisk southwesterly winds.
