Talbert House opens Klekamp Family Veteran Residences in Walnut Hills

Talbert House marked the opening of the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences, a new 49-unit permanent supportive housing development in Walnut Hills designed to give veterans experiencing homelessness a safe place to rebuild their lives.

The 36,000-square-foot building at 2631 Gilbert Avenue features one-bedroom apartments along with onsite supportive services, a community room, laundry facilities and an outdoor courtyard. Its location next to community partner Easterseals Redwood will also connect residents with additional services and employment opportunities.

The project was made possible through the generosity of the Klekamp family. Talbert House declined to share the dollar amount of their contribution, only saying the family “made a significant initial investment, which served as the foundation for bringing this project to life.”

“The Klekamp Family Veteran Residences represent new homes, new hope, and a community that shows up for veterans who have served our country,” said Josh Arnold, Talbert House’s president and CEO. “They provide stability and support for veterans in the heart of Walnut Hills.”

It takes a village

The new residences support Talbert House’s mission by offering safe, stable housing and surrounding veterans with behavioral health care, recovery services, case management, employment support and primary care.
