FAIRFIELD, Ohio – A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier in Ohio has been placed on leave without pay after he spoke out about dangerous winter weather conditions this week.
Jason Thompson said he works at the Postal Service office in Fairfield, near Cincinnati. On Monday, he posted a message on Facebook describing how hard it was to get to work during Winter Storm Fern. He said roads were covered in snow and ice, and many mail trucks were buried in snow when he arrived.
Thompson wrote that carriers from Ohio and nearby states drove long distances in unsafe weather only to find there was no mail to deliver. He said the parking lot at the post office was not fully cleared and that workers were being told to dig out their own trucks…
