CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Local doctors at the TriHealth Heart and Vascular Institute are pioneering a breakthrough specialty that reduces the need for open heart surgery.
Dr. Joseph Choo, a structural heart intervention specialist, explained that advancements in technology now allow for transcatheter techniques. “The structural heart is more inside the heart and this has traditionally been an area where we’ve had to do open heart surgery to repair or eliminate the issues, but increasingly with technology we are able to use transcatheter techniques,” Choo said.
