Cincinnati council loyalty lasted less than a month | Opinion

It’s been less than a month since Cincinnati City Council was sworn in, and already, almost a quarter of the council members have announced they are seeking other offices. These are folks who spent last summer asking voters to put them back into City Hall.

Seth Walsh is running for Ohio state treasurer, and Meeka Owens has her eye on a seat on the Hamilton County Commission. They ran their campaigns on their commitment to Cincinnati despite their record, and they won largely because of the Hamilton County Democratic Party’s endorsement, led by the party bosses. These bosses include well-funded lobbyists, Democratic Party Chair Alex Linser and his committees, and precinct executives.
