Walnut Hills Stairwell Horror: Cincy Cops Collar Suspect In Killing Of Mom Of Five

Yesterday, Feb. 9, Cincinnati police arrested a man they say is responsible for a December shooting that left a mother of five dead in a Walnut Hills high-rise. Authorities took 47-year-old Willie Gordon into custody after investigating the killing of 31-year-old Tekeya McCollum on Dec. 23, 2025.

Gordon was arrested by the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit and is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center. He faces one count of murder, two counts of tampering with evidence, and one count of having weapons under disability, according to FOX19.

McCollum was found with a gunshot wound in a stairwell inside the Park Eden building at 2610 Park Ave. on Dec. 23, 2025. Medics attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family said she was a mother to five, and her brother described her as “a ball of life” who would give you the last dollar, per FOX19. Neighbors have urged better building security after multiple incidents, according to WCPO.

Charges and legal stakes

Prosecutors have charged Gordon with murder, two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of having weapons under disability, and the case is now headed into the court process. Under Ohio law, “having weapons while under disability” is a felony of the third degree, and tampering with evidence is also a felony of the third degree.
