University of Cincinnati (UC) students and community members attended the annual “Mega Shabbat” celebration hosted by the UC Chabad House at West Nippert Pavilion on Feb. 6, 2026.
Shabbat, the day of Jewish rest and celebration, is observed weekly from Friday evening at sunset until Saturday night. Individuals come together over a meal featuring Challah — a traditional braided bread — and Kiddush — a blessing over wine or grape juice. After that, they refrain from Biblically proscribed actions to focus more on community, prayer and family.
“The soul of the idea here was to pool all our resources together to bring the beauty of Shabbat to the entire Jewish Bearcat community, and particularly to those who may not experience it on a regular basis,” said UC Chabad Rabbi Yitzi Creeger. “Shabbat is a very important part of the Jewish life experience, and we want to always share that with the students.”…
