Two Ohio contractors agree to pay $30M to settle fraud allegations

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – Two Ohio-based construction contractors – one based in the Cincinnati region, the other in Columbus – have agreed to pay the state of Ohio $30 million to settle allegations that they submitted fraudulent test results for more than a decade.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio Feb. 11 announced the settlement with Barrett Paving Materials Inc., based in Middletown with a plant in Reading, and Kokosing Materials Inc., headquartered in Westerville, a Columbus suburb.

Barrett Paving will pay $12.5 million, while Kokosing Materials will pay $17.5 million…
