UC alumnus leaves $3M gift because ‘wonder-filled life’, travels began at alma mater

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A University of Cincinnati alumnus whose career spanned the Space Shuttle Program and international defense projects is leaving a $3 million legacy to the arts in Cincinnati.

The estate of Barry Mitchell, a 1982 graduate of UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, has donated $3 million to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, according to the university. The gift will establish the Barry L. Mitchell Endowed Chair and the Barry L. Mitchell Music Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Mitchell credited UC with shaping what he called his “wonder-filled life.”…
